Introduction
Sergej Berendsen is an experienced transformation manager with remarkable accomplishments. Both in a CIO/COO role leading digital transformations in the finance industry as well as CEO in enabling fast growth in market-leading companies in the IT industry.
Professional experience
Currently Sergej is the CEO of IDC Metri. After joining the company as CEO and investor, he has transformed IDC Metri from a consultant to a product-driven organisation, preparing it for international growth. Two years ahead of schedule Metri joined IDC as its next step into that strategy. Currently Sergej is focussing on the international expansion.
Before this Sergej had the following key roles:
- COO Van Landschot Chabot, integrating a recent acquisition
- CIO Authority Financial Markets, introducing an AI driven digital supervisor prototype and re-doing its IT operations & application landscape
- COO Kroodle, designing & operating a Facebook insurance company
- COO Meeus (Aegon), restructuring and transforming a classic insurance model into a touchless, e-commerce model, greatly enhancing its business performance and preparing it for a successful sale to AON
- Sabbatical, travelling around the world for almost 4 years on a sailing yacht with my family
- Executive Director Devote, growing and professionalising the company (500% in 3 years) and successfully implementing an IPO
- Head of digital payments ING
- Management consultant CMG (predecessor CGI)

Education and Credentials
Sergej studied Informatics and after Business Administration at Technical University Twente specialising on Marketing. During his career he continued his education with several Insurance / Banking / Compliance / Security courses as well as non-executive advisory (Hemingway).
Personal Interests
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling to go kite-surfing on the most beautiful spots in the world, reading, living healthy and personal fitness.
Professionally I enjoy working in teams, pushing for greatness as a team and celebrating joint success. Growing as a person, leader and team player is, even at my age :-), still a fulfilling goal. Seeing & helping others grow is even more fulfilling.
